Sam Riley plays Maleficent's shape-shifting assistant Diaval in 'Maleficent'; the re-make of the classic Disney animation 'Sleeping Beauty'. In an interview, he talks about working with director Robert Stromberg, getting into character and his hardest scene on the set.
He admits that getting into character was a 'difficult' process. 'I like to do homework and things before doing projects but I wasn't really sure', he explained. 'But when I was in London, Robert Stromberg, the director, he helped to arrange me to have some sessions with a real raven where we could be in the same room as each other and I could watch him do his thing. And so I could understand what a raven's like.' When asked about his best scene, he found it easier to pick out the worst. 'I had to be more or less naked and it was very cold outside and raining, it was a British summer', he recalls. 'It was kinda surreal doing that in front of Angelina early on in the shoot.'
