The actress was married to her Cruel Intentions' co-star for seven years
American actress Reese Witherspoon has had a hugely successful career from massive film hits including Legally Blonde to a huge resurgence on the small screen with the critically acclaimed Big Little Lies. However, the Hollywood star has recently taken time out to discuss a less successful part of her life - her first marriage to fellow actor Ryan Phillippe.
Reese Witherspoon is now married to TV producer, Jim Toth
The mother-of-three married her Cruel Intentions co-star at age 23 but has revealed she has "no regrets" over that relationship with whom she shares daughter Ava, 18, and son Deacon, 13.

After getting his big break starring in the teen slasher movie I Know What You Did Last Summer, Ryan Phillippe has now graduated to playing a parent in the teen slasher movie Wish Upon.
Ryan Phillippe says the script caught his attention. "I was surprised how much I liked it," he says. "Okay, it's a thriller about high school kids and I'm going to play a dad! I read it and had such a good time reading the script. Also the fact that I have a 17-year-old daughter and I had the sense that like she could watch this movie with friends. Most of the things I've done she couldn't."

Even more interesting was the morality in the premise. "If you had a genie and three wishes, what would you do?" he asks. "I think that's something in pop culture and entertainment that we are frequently confronted with, and so I think that stuff is just fun to think about. I like the dark side of it. It's the seductive nature of power. It's similar to that addiction that we find with Instagram, of comparing yourself to other people and being addicted to these things that you believe that you need that aren't real. And there's an element of that that I find very interesting."

NBC is reported to have picked up a follow-up series to the classic 1999 movie.
Fans of the late nineties favourite Cruel Intentions will be delighted to learn that a TV sequel, focussed on the child of Annette Hargrove and Sebastian Valmont, is currently in the works.
According to Deadline on Wednesday (October 21st), NBC is picking up a series revolving around Bash Casey, the son of the characters played by Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe, the latter of which died at the end of the original movie. It would seem that Annette was pregnant at that point, and the storyline of the mooted series will pick up on the life of the now-16 year old boy.

Reese Witherspoon's daughter, Ava Phillippe, is her double!
Reese Witherspoon's daughter looks just like her mum! Witherspoon posted a photograph with her 15-year-old daughter Ava on Instagram on Thursday (30th April) and their similarity is certainly striking. Witherspoon and Eva were getting ready for the Los Angeles premiere of Witherspoon's latest film, Hot Pursuit, when the photo was taken. Ava is Witherspoon's daughter with her ex-husband, Ryan Phillippe. Although Ava looked remarkably like her mother, she certainly has a look of Phillippe about her - especially around the nose!

Reese Witherspoon’s baby boy has finally arrived, though anticipation has been building for an announcement on the little guy’s name. The actress and husband Jim Toth finally announced the news late on Thursday, introducing ‘Tennessee James’, reports Reuters.
Young Tennessee joins Witherspoon’s two older children, Ava, 12, and son Deacon, 9, from her first marriage to Ryan Phillippe. Resse and Jim’s spokesman Meredith O’Sullivan Wasson said in a statement, “Reese Witherspoon and husband Jim Toth welcomed Tennessee James into their family today. Both mom and baby are healthy and the entire family is thrilled.” The ‘Legally Blonde’ actress married talent agent Toth at her ranch in California in March this year. The reasons for her choice of name for her latest child are obvious – the 36-year-old grew up in Nashville, Tennessee, and has always kept a keen hold on her heritage throughout her career in Hollywood. She won an Oscar in 2005 for her work on the country music film ‘Walk The Line’.
Naming babies after states seems to becoming ever more popular. Actor Casey Affleck and his wife Summer Phoenix (actor Joaquin’s sister) welcomed their son ‘Indiana’ in 2004. Ethan Hawke and wife RYAN SHAWHUGHES opted for the same name when their baby daughter arrived in 2011.
Reese Witherspoon has named her new baby boy Tennessee James, reports The Huffington Post. He was born yesterday (September 27th).
The 36-year-old's third child is guaranteed a shot at acting with a name like that. Witherspoon already has two little ones from her previous marriage with Ryan Phillippe; Ava, 12, and Deacon, 8. Linda Rosenkrantz, co-founder of Nameberry.com, has some explanations behind naming techniques employed by parents. "It's a trend that had its roots starting in the late 1980s," she said," with several celebs picking names from the American West, like Austin, Dallas and Dakota, including Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson, whose now grown daughter Dakota is the star of a new sitcom. But lately the trend seems to be heating up and much more widespread." Celebrities seem to be obsessed with choosing never-heard-before names for their offspring, and are looking far and wide for names that fit the bill: "The current trend seems to be really exotic-sounding spots, like Morocco, Egypt and Asia, and states rather than countries or cities -- Alabama, Arizona, Indiana and yes, Tennessee."
Laura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon made her name in 2001, with her breakout role as Elle Woods in the box office hit Legally Blonde, after bagging a Golden Globe nomination for the critically acclaimed Election. She also garnered critical praise for her performance in Walk The Line alongside Joaquin Phoenix.
