R&B singer/producer Ryan Leslie is facing legal action for allegedly failing to stick to his promise of paying $1 million (£625,000) for the safe return of his laptop.
The star was on tour in Europe when a thief stole the computer, which contained unreleased songs, from his car in Germany last October (10) and Leslie was so desperate to get back the Apple MacBook, he increased his initial reward offer of $20,000 (£13,300) to $1 million in a video posted on YouTube.com.
The laptop was returned by a man who claims he found it in a bag while walking through a forest. He handed in the lost property to local authorities, who reportedly reunited Leslie with his gadget.
However, the man - identified as Armin Augstein - accused the star of reneging of his deal earlier this year (11) after failing to reply to his emails and tweets, and now he is suing Leslie for the money.
According to the lawsuit filed at the U.S. District Court in Manhattan on Monday (24Oct11), Augstein is seeking the $1 million fee plus interest.
Leslie's rep had not responded to the suit as WENN went to press.
