Hollywood hunk Ryan Gosling will write and direct a fantasy noir fim, 'How to Catch a Monster'.
Ryan Gosling is making his directorial debut with 'How to Catch a Monster'.
The 31-year-old actor is writing the screenplay as well as directing a dark and mysterious modern day fantasy film, with his 'Drive' co-star Christina Hendricks on board as the female lead and Marc Platt set to produce.
A synopsis explains: '''How To Catch a Monster' weaves elements of fantasy noir, and suspense into a modern day fairytale.
''Set against the surreal dreamscape of a vanishing city, Billy, a single mother of two is swept into a dark Underworld while her teenage son discovers a secret road leading to an underwater town.
''Both Billy and Bones must dive deep into the mystery if their family is to survive.''
The 'Crazy, Stupid, Love' hunk - who is dating actress Eva Mendes - is hoping to sell the film at the Toronto film festival and the project has been described at as ''beautifully haunting''.
Ryan follows in the footsteps of his 'The Ides of March' co-star George Clooney in making the transition from actor to director.
The Hollywood heartthrob will next be seen in upcoming dramas 'Place Beyond the Pines', 'Only God Forgives' and 'Gangster Squad' early next year.
Production on Ryan's twisted fairytale is scheduled for Spring 2013.
