Ryan Gosling fans have responded furiously to the announcement that Bradley Cooper has scooped People magazine's 'Worlds Sexiest Man' award for 2011. The Hangover actor was the surprise winner of the prize, announced on Wednesday (Nov 15, 2011), but it seems not everyone is happy with the decision.
Fans of Gosling, who has starred in Crazy, Stupid Love, The Ides of March and Drive this year, were left bewildered by the decision and launched an immediate online protest. In a particularly humorous backlash, one fan created a blog entitled '63 reasons Bradley Cooper isn't the sexiest man alive' - the page contained 63 pictures of Gosling. A Twitter page dedicated to the actor posted a message today that read, "Ryan Gosling fans are protesting outside peoplemag offices in response to him not being named SexiestManAlive. There is also a petition". Another fan merely posted, "Bradley Cooper is the Sexiest Man Alive which must mean that Ryan Gosling was just involved in some tragic acid to the face mishap". Acknowledging he was probably considered an outsider for the award, a modest Cooper said, "I think it's really cool that a guy who doesn't look like a model can have this.I think I'm a decent-looking guy. Sometimes I can look great, and other times I look horrifying".
It's not all disappointment for Ryan Gosling though, with the actor tipped for nominations at next year's Golden Globes and Academy Awards.
