Ryan Gosling has described how he was punched in the face by his hero Harrison Ford, during the filming of Blade Runner 2049.

The accidental punch came when the two actors were shooting a fight scene for the upcoming sequel, where Ford will reprise his role as Rick Deckard.

During an interview with GQ magazine Gosling was asked if the story about Ford punching him was true. “Yeah, he did. It was kind of, you know, a rite of passage,” the actor said.

“We were just doing a fight scene and, you know, it just happened. But what was funny was, when it was over, they brought ice for my face, and Harrison pushed me out of the way and stuck his fist in the ice.”

“I asked him the other day where he got his sense of humour from—was it from his mother or his father? He said, ‘Sears.’ And he didn't have much time to shop around so he just had to grab one and get out.”

When asked if the blow had hurt, Gosling described his co-star as “tough”, adding: “As soon as it happened, the director came up to me and said, ‘Look at it this way—you just got hit by Indiana Jones.’”

As for Ford’s apology, Gosling earned a glass of scotch for his trouble, but not the whole bottle. “I guess he felt like he didn't connect enough to earn a whole bottle,” he joked.

“You know, they say don't meet your heroes, but I would say the addendum to that is ‘…unless they're Harrison Ford,’” the actor added. “'Cause he's a cool motherf**ker’".
