The success of EL James' 'Fifty Shades of Grey' novels seems to know no bounds. There has been a great deal of internet chatter over who will land the role of Christian Grey in the movie adaptation and The Sun have reported today (July 3, 2012) that Hollywood heart-throb Ryan Gosling could well be in the running for the coveted part. Whether or not Gosling would want to take on the role is another matter but according to the UK newspaper, it's his for the taking if he wants it.
Another favourite for the role is Ian Somerhalder, star of the Vampire Diaries. A strong contender, for sure, though hardly in the league of 'Drive' star Ryan, in terms of drawing in a crowd. Although, if the success of the movie parallels that of the paperbacks, it's unlikely that Universal Pictures and Focus Features will need a big-name draw to get bums on seats for this one. Another actor thought to be in the running for the role is the British star Henry Cavill. He may not be a household name just yet but when Cavill hits the silver screen next year in a re-boot of the Superman franchise, he almost certainly will be.
The Fifty Shades of Grey movie is still in the pre-production phase, though it's already a hot topic in the movie world. Bret Easton Ellis is even thought to be clamouring for a chance to adapt the screenplay.
