Rocker Ryan Adams has undergone "successful" surgery on his broken left wrist, ending speculation he may never play the guitar again.

Doctors had told the NEW YORK, NEW YORK star he could lose 20 per cent of the movement in his wrist following an accident at Liverpool, England's ROYAL COURT venue last month (22JAN04) when he tumbled two metres (six feet) off stage.

But, following the operation, doctors now hope Adams will make a full recovery.

His spokesperson says, "Ryan is out of surgery and in the recovery room. The doctor said the operation went well. They are releasing him to girlfriend Parker Posey's care. He's got a big cast on his arm."

Adams also injured his leg and a microphone cut his lip in the fall, which happened midway through a performance of

SHADOWLANDS.

The indie singer-songwriter has been told it will now take a minimum of four to seven weeks for his injury to recover.
