Russell Simmons is calling on Bruce Springsteen to join the ongoing Wall Street protests in New York City as the rock veteran's backing would be a boost to demonstrators.
The hip-hop mogul is among a number of stars to have thrown their support behind the activists who are protesting against social inequality, including Kanye West, Susan Sarandon, Michael Moore, Penn Badgley and Tim Robbins.
Simmons is glad of the celebrity support, but he is convinced Springsteen needs to back the protests.
He tells OK! magazine, "Every hip-hop guy is going to come down there sooner or later. We've got them covered. Bruce Springsteen would be good. He's an American hero. It's an American working thing. If he understood the issue, he would be there... Those people need our support, and our celebrity is useful and we use it."
