Russell Simmons' niece Angela is following in the rap mogul's footsteps and launching her own high end fashion line.
Angela Simmons, the daughter of Run-D.M.C. rapper Joseph 'Rev. Run' Simmons, already co-owns Pastry Footwear with her sister Vanessa, and the pair has expanded its initial sneaker range to include clothing and eyewear.
But the 23 year old is now branching out on her own to create a collection of womenswear with her friend Juan Vargas, a former designer for Pastry.
Angela posted photos of herself modelling a number of sexy dresses on her Twitter.com page.
She tells GlobalGrind.com, "It's going to be women's wear... higher end. Very couture, different stuff. I have so many designers that inspire me. I love Tom Ford, I love Marc Jacobs, just my own twist.
"I have a personal style and I'm just going to try to give people what I love and hopefully they'll love it. I'm just working and thinking about a lot of travelling and getting a lot of inspiration from different countries like Spain and South Africa. I'm really inspired by Egypt. You can expect a really great line.
"I am a fashion designer and I've always wanted my own line, so when's better than now to start? I'm really excited about it."
Def Jam Records co-founder Russell Simmons is the brains behind the Phat Farm, Argyleculture and American Classics clothing brands.
