Russell Crowe credits dislocating his shoulder with making the fight scenes in latest movie Cinderella Man more convincing.

The Oscar-winning actor, who plays legendary boxer JIM BRADDOCK in the biopic, had to undergo physiotherapy after the accident during a sparring match in a Sydney, Australian gym - but believes the extra two months proved beneficial to the authenticity of the film.

Crowe says, "By the end of week three we did ten rounds on the hand mitts.

"I was sparring again by the end of week four.

"Frankly, because of the injury it extended the time we had to prepare, and the skill level, the body, the choreography, everything moved forward, everything was given more space and as a result everything was more successful."
