Russell Crowe was so determined to play a professional fighter in forthcoming boxing movie Cinderella Man, he persevered as the project bounced from director to director.

Crowe, who plays depression-era hero JIM BRADDOCK in the forthcoming RON HOWARD film, wanted the role so much, he didn't let endless rewrites put him off either.

He tells British magazine EMPIRE, "I always loved it, and it kept coming back to me in different guises.

"I've probably read it 24, 25 times by now and it still gives me goose bumps every time I read it, no matter how much we've changed."
