It's been a good couple of months since movie awards season, so it's delightful news to inform you that there's another batch on the way, with Russell Brand having just been announced as the host of MTV's bash at the Mtv Movie Awards to be held on June 3rd this year, according to Reuters.
Commenting on the news, Stephen Friedman, president of Mtv commented "With his amazing ability to span the full spectrum of comedy from the most high to low brow, Russell's smart, unpredictable wit uniquely connects him to our audience." Certainly for Brand it'll be another step in his attempts to move on from the failed marriage of his and Katy Perry's, which ended at the end of last year after just 14th months. Brand has been coping well with it until it was widely reported that he turned on a heckler at one of his recent show who'd been shouting out the name of his ex-wife.
Brand will be joined on June 3rd by a star-studded list of presenters handing out Mtv's golden popcorn statuettes, including Emma Stone, Andrew Garfield, Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron, Mila Kunis and Mark Wahlberg; New York indie-pop band Fun will be performing at the show. The films expecting to walk off with the bulk of the awards will be 'The Hunger Games' and 'Bridesmaids,' up for eight nominations each.
