Russell Brand has been confirmed as the host of the 2012 MTV Movie Awards, Mtv News announced today (May 10, 2012). Previous hosts of the awards ceremony include Ben Stiller, Justin Timberlake and Mike Myers. This year's ceremony will take place at the Gibson Amphitheatre in California's Universal City. In a statement, Brand said "This Mtv Movie Awards will be more impressive than The Avengers and you won't have to wait an hour for someone to Hulk out."
The President of Mtv, Stephen Friedman said that the 36 year-old comedian and actor - who recently split from former wife Katy Perry - has all the qualities that they look for in a successful host, saying "With his amazing ability to span the full spectrum of comedy from the most high to lowbrow, Russell's smart, unpredictable wit uniquely connects him to our audience. His rock-n-roll sensibility and fearlessness give us the perfect partner with whom to take a leap of faith with as we meld the worlds of movies and music together on one very special night."
Of course, Russell Brand is no stranger to the world of ceremony hosting. He has previously hosted the 2008 Mtv Video Music Awards; they were clearly impressed with his performance, as they asked him back in 2009. Amongst the award presenters that have been confirmed for the bash, are Twilight's Kristen Stewart, Chris Hemsworth of Avengers and MILA KUNIS
