Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson and his son JUSTIN have been spared jail
sentences following their fight with Florida lawmen.
The rocker, real name ALEX ZIVOJINOVICH, and his 34-year-old son will
serve 12 months probation and pay court costs as part of an agreement struck
yesterday (21APR05). The charges against them were reduced to misdemeanours
The agreement calls for each to plead to a single misdemeanour charge of
resisting arrest without violence.
The Zivojinoviches were at a party at a Florida hotel in 2004 when the
altercation with deputies occurred. Justin and his friends agitated hotel
security when they got up on the stage where the house band was taking a break.

A deputy testified that he felt threatened as he was escorting Justin out
while pinning his arms behind his back when Justin broke one arm free.
Alex tried to intervene when deputies were escorting his son off the
property, deputies said. They accused Rush's founding member of pushing a
female deputy down a stairwell and spitting in another deputy's face.
Alex suffered a broken nose and other injuries in the scuffle.
