Gay singer/songwriter Rufus Wainwright wept as his recording sessions with Mark Ronson came to an end, likening his time spent with the DJ to "a romance".
The star teamed up with the beatmaker for his upcoming album Out of the Game, which he started work on shortly after his mother Kate MCGarrigle's death in 2010.
He admits the timing of the project was emotional for him, but Ronson was full of support for his new pal - and Wainwright couldn't contain his tears as they wrapped recording.
He tells Britain's The Times, "He's straight, with a girlfriend (now wife Josephine de La Baume); I'm gay, with a boyfriend, and it was all totally cool - but it definitely was a romance.
"I burst into tears on the last day of recording because it was the end of this beautiful thing we had shared. I had just lost my mother, and he was extremely sensitive to my fragile state."
