Singer/songwriter Rufus Wainwright is set to write a big screen musical inspired by his own colourful life.
The movie will feature several tracks from the star's back catalogue and is provisionally titled The Great White Way, the nickname for New York's Broadway district.
And despite the film featuring aspects of his real life, Wainwright insists it won't be a straightforward biopic.
He tells Rolling Stone, "We're really early in that process. It's loosely based on my life - very, very loose. Perhaps it's more of a kind of mythic Rufus that he's trying to create. It stems from some of my past glories and tragic endings, but it's by no means a biography of me or anything."
