Singer Rufus Wainwright postponed his honeymoon to play a charity gig with a friend just days after his wedding.
The star married his longterm partner Jorn Weisbrodt at his home in Montauk, New York on Thursday (23Aug12) and on Sunday (26Aug12), Wainwright stepped out to play a concert with the Salome Chamber Orchestra, founded by his violinist friend David Aaron Carpenter.
Carpenter performed at Wainwright's wedding and he was delighted that his pal agreed to return the favour by playing at the Guild Hall in East Hampton, New York to raise money for the Trevor Project.
Speaking before the gig, Carpenter told the East Hampton Star, "He loves Salome and asked if we could be there for his big day. It's an honour. And instead of going on an immediate honeymoon he's playing at our gala - his first concert as a married man!"
