Rue Royale have now unleashed a video for their single 'Set Out To Discover' which is available for free download. It also appears on their third album 'Remedies Ahead' which is also out now on Sinnbus records.
On the video, two people are seen gazing into a glass jar with a torch during the night. Inside the jar is a model house and some trees which appear on screen just as, 'I've got a glass jar of memories' is crooned. The song is a slow melody with rhythmic beats and a monotony about it that lends an ambiguous mood. It's almost not clear whether this song is meant as a peaceful or melancholy tune but it is definitely resonant.
Rue Royale received a lot of radio interest for their first two albums, their 2008 self-titled offering and 2011's 'Guide To An Escape', and there's no doubt that 'Remedies Ahead' will make its mark this year. They wrote the majority of the material while on tour in the US, and raised money through a successful Kickstarter project. They are set for a major UK and Europe tour that kicks off later this month (October 2013) and even includes dates as far as April 2014.
