The Orange is the New Black actress is establishing herself as an action star with upcoming roles in John Wick: Chapter Two and Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, and is currently filming a third action movie, xXx: The Return of Xander Cage, alongside Vin Diesel and Samuel L. Jackson.

Ruby likes to do her own stunts, which makes her no stranger to hurting herself on set, yet her most recent injury was caused by a simple task - running.

The actress posted an image of her tattooed torso on Instagram, showing a dark bruise and bloody graze on her left side, but the injury didn't seem to dampen Ruby's spirits.

"It's all fun and games until.. Nah ITS STILL FUN WHO AM I KIDDING!", she wrote. "I live for this s**t @vindiesel @thereturnofxandercage #stuntlife ( to be honest I've done so many epic stunts in my last 3 films and I smash into a metal pipe... Performing the trick of.. Running)."

Ruby is no stranger to injuries. She had to use a walking cane on the red carpet at the MTV Europe Music Awards, which she co-hosted in October, 2015 with Ed Sheeran, because she had a limp thanks to a serious leg injury she sustained filming the final Resident Evil movie.

“I just got off of shooting an action film, hence the cane because I’ve torn my leg," she told The Hollywood Reporter at the time. "I just tore my calf muscle five times, no big deal... We got to do amazing things. Acting is just that genre where you get to do whatever you want.”

Despite the pain, the 30-year-old has no regrets about doing her own stunts because it "adds to the character.”

Ruby plays sniper Adele Wolff in the third XxX movie, which is set for release in January, 2017.
