Rowan Atkinson, the British veteran comedy actor, is in a stable condition in hospital after he crashed his MCLaren F1 super car into a tree and lamppost near Peterborough, reports Bbc News. The actor suffered shoulder injuries as a result collision but managed to walk away from his vehicle, which had set ablaze, and wait for an ambulance.
Atkinson, a noted car enthusiast who holds the fastest celebrity time on motoring show 'Top Gear', was later admitted to hospital after paramedics arrived on scene. A spokeswoman for the Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service said, "Crews brought the fire under control by 8.13pm. They made the vehicle safe and used one hose reel to put out the fire.There was one casualty but he was not trapped". During his recent Top Gear appearance, the 'Blackadder' star told Jeremy Clarkson he was an avid follower of racing and currently drove a Ford Falcon. The actor later completed the 'Star in a Reasonably Priced Car' challenge in an impressive 1 minute 42.2 seconds.
Achieving recognition for his satirical news show 'Not The Nine O'Clock News' and sitcom 'Blackadder', Atkinson later gained international prominence playing his hapless Mr Bean character.
