News from the Star Wars universe had fans nervous, as screenwriter Michael Arndt left his Episode VII draft to be rewritten by director Jj Abrams and Star Wars veteran Lawrence Kasdan, who wrote 1980's The Empire Strikes Back. Arndt hinted that the film's release might be delayed until 2016 as a result. Read the full story here.

The biggest rumour this week was that Meryl Streep may join the cast of The Expendabelles, the female spin-off from Sylvester Stallone's Expendables franchise. Cameron Diaz and Milla Jovovich are also up for roles in the adventure thriller. But this would be Streep's first action movie since The River Wild, 20 years ago. See who else is rumoured to join the cast here!

More offbeat casting news: Daniel Radcliffe will play Olympian-turned-politician Sebastian Coe in the biopic Gold, tracing his rivalry with fellow British runner Steve Ovett in the run-up to the 1980 and 1984 Olympics. The film reunites Radcliffe with The Woman in Black director James Watkins. Read more information on Gold here.

X-Men: Days Of Future Past

The first trailer for X-men: Days of Future Past was released this week, and sent the fan-sphere into overdrive analysing the film's twisty plot. It's a time-travel story combining the casts of First Class and the original trilogy, complete with Bryan Singer back as director. Opening next May, it looks dark, moody and unmissable. Watch the trailer for X-men: Days of Future Past here.

We also got our first look at Wes Anderson's The Grand Budapest Hotel, another quirky comedy with an all-star cast including Ralph Fiennes, Jude Law, Adrien Brody, Saoirse Ronan and Anderson regulars Owen Wilson, Tilda Swinton and Bill Murray. It looks funny and clever, with a madcap murder mystery at its centre. It opens in late February. Watch the trailer for The Grand Budapest Hotel here.

There's also a new red-band trailer for the comedy That Awkward Moment, starring Zac Efron, Michael B Jordan and Miles Teller as friends who vow to stay single together, then of course immediately meet potential girlfriends. The film looks funny and rather goofy, and the trailer features a glimpse of Efron naked. It opens in January. Watch the trailer for That Awkward Moment here.

And finally, we had a new trailer for Martin Scorsese's awards-bait drama The Wolf of Wall Street, starring Leonardo Dicaprio as a hot-shot stockbroker threatened by a federal investigation. This trailer gives us more plot details, including scenes with costars Jonah Hill and Matthew Mcconaughey. It looks energetic and entertaining, and opens in January. Watch the trailer for The Wolf Of Wall Street here.
