After revealing news of a recent heart attack, Rosie ODonnell has announced that she married girlfriend Michelle Rounds during a private ceremony in New York earlier this summer, reports People magazine. Rounds has also had her fair share of health problems - recently being diagnosed with desmoid tumors - though the pair were all smiles as they tied the knot on June 9, 2012.
O'Donnell's representative Cindi Berger said, "They got married but they haven't had the wedding celebration". The two originally planned to exchange vows in August, though it seems as though they rushed things through before Rounds' first surgery on June 14, 2012. Berger added, "It is such a rare tumor. It took them quite a while to get an accurate diagnosis. She had several gastrointestinal surgeries to remove the desmoid turmors. She is now on the road to recovery". Meanwhile, O'Donnell - who revealed that she had suffered a heart attack last week - took to her blog to share the happier news, saying, "We married in private before [Michelle's] surgery, just the [two] of us.When we r both well enough will have the wedding of r dreams surrounded by those we cherish", adding, "Thankful for the love and support so many have given us during these trying times," she continues in the post. "Including all of u stranger-friends connected thru invisible strands of wi fi".
The couple hope to raise awareness of desmoid tumors by participating in the annual Dtrf Running for Answers 5K, held in Philadelphia on October 21, 2012. They plan to match all donations made to Rounds' fundraising page.
