Rooney Mara, the actress who is set to play 'Lisbeth Salander' in the upcoming movie 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo', is being kept in hiding after undergoing a dramatic change of appearance in preparation for her role as the young computer hacker, reports the New York Post.
It is reported that director David Fincher had made 25-year-old Mara bleach her eyebrows, dye her hair jet black, and even pierce her nipples for a topless scene in the crime movie. It is understood that the actress, who was cast ahead of Scarlett Johansson for the role of Salander, is currently spending most of her time in a hotel room in Sweden, where filming is taking place. One source explained, "She is in lockdown. DAVID FINCHER is determined to keep her out of sight as much as possible to keep her look under wraps". However, despite the secrecy surrounding her character, photographs of Mara with a pierced lip have begun to circulate on fan sites. A representative for the movie said, "She's going to look like the character as described in the novels".
'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' is a remake of the 2009 film of the same name, which was originally based on the STIEG LARSSON novel. Fincher's movie is scheduled for release on 21st December 2011 and will see Mara star alongside Daniel Craig and Joely Richardson.
