The 48-year-old writer had aimed to keep her crime writing venture a secret but her solicitor at the time revealed her pen name to the public and has since been fined and ordered to pay Rowling damages - which she donated to charity.

Rowling Almost Killed Off Ron

Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling considered killing off the boy wizard's best pal Ron Weasley during a bleak time in her life.

She says, "Midway through, which I think is a reflection of the fact that I wasn't in a very happy place, I started thinking, 'I might polish one of them off'."

Severus Snape Named Best Loved Harry Potter Character

Harry Potter Alan Rickman Jk Rowling Luna Lovegood Ron Weasley

Severus Snape has topped a poll to find the best loved 'Harry Potter' character.

The wizard - played by Alan Rickman - received over 500 more votes than Harry's best pal Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) who finished in second place and the titular character who placed third in the poll on Empire magazine's website.

Empire's Deputy Online Editor, Helen O'Hara, commented, "Snape is a truly great character, multi-layered and surprisingly complicated under that straggly black haircut. He's especially good in the film because of the way that Alan Rickman infuses him with malice and menace. He seems capable of anything - and indeed he is, in the end, but in a way you never expected. While Harry, Ron and Hermione may seem more heroic, Snape is definitely Jk Rowling's most important and complex character."

He said: "It seemed like the most unnatural thing to do, to kiss this person I'd known since she was nine. It took a while to get into it and put our Friendship aside. It's quite full-on, a proper snog. We're soaking wet as well - they dumped gallons of water on us and then we just went for it. We laughed a lot and it took us a while to concentrate. We did it about four times."
