Ron Howard has signed on to turn race ace Niki Lauda's track battle with British driver James Hunt into a major new movie.
The director is in the driving seat for Rush, which will chronicle Formula 1 icon Lauda's comeback, six weeks after a crash left him with severe burn injuries, for a race against his rival.
Howard will reportedly replace Paul Greengrass, who stepped down from the project.
The moviemaker isn't new to racing films - his directorial debut was 1977's Grand Theft Auto.
