Actress Romola Garai is looking forward to her fifties as she can finally escape the "exhausting pressure" of keeping beautiful.

The Atonement star, who turned 30 in August (12), is adamant her emotions have balanced out in recent years and now she can't wait for middle-age as she will feel less inclined to keep up appearances.

She tells Britain's Stylist Magazine, "I was mad until I was 25. Completely out of control with my emotions. Everything that happened to me was a tragedy. I've been much happier over 25.

"That exhausting pressure of having to be beautiful. Thank God that's over, I can't wait until I'm 50. I can't wait until people stop worrying about that. I think for some women it carries on, but for me, it just seems to have lifted."
