It has been a hit miniseries on the History Channel, a book based on the miniseries, a boxed DVD and Blu-ray set, and now, says executive producer Mark Burnett, The Bible is being condensed for a three-hour theatrical version next fall. In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Burnett, whose additional credits include Survivor, Celebrity Apprentice, The Voice, and Shark Tank, said that The Bible had become a calling, clearly for him and his wife, Roma Downey. We felt it was something we had to do, and too many things happened to explain it any other way. It's a juggernaut, and it's not going to slow down. The movie, Burnett said, will focus on Christ's resurrection. Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ, released in 2004, which focused on Christ's crucifixion, grossed nearly $500 million in 2004-05.
