Shamed entertainer Rolf Harris was caught up in a prison brawl when another inmate spat at the convicted sex attacker.

Britain's The Sun newspaper reports a fight broke out at HMP Bullingdon in England after a prisoner attempted to spit at Harris during a Catholic service, but missed and hit another inmate.

Harris was not involved in the altercation, which involved at least two lags, but was reportedly left shaken by the incident.

A source tells the newspaper, "One prisoner called Rolf a dirty nonce (child molester) and spat at him. All the others were jeering too, but the spit landed on the bloke next to Rolf, who went berserk. He then attacked the other guy. At least two prisoners were throwing punches. An alarm went off before the officers came over. Rolf stood in a corner while the other prisoner was taken to(a) segregation unit. Then he just sat back down. He was shaken up , but didn't let on."

A spokesperson for Britain's Ministry of Justice confirmed the incident, which occurred on 19 July (14), Sky News reports.

Word of the altercation comes in the wake of the announcement that Harris has sought permission to appeal against his conviction for sexually assaulting four girls.

The Australian singer/artist was found guilty in June (14) of 12 counts of indecent assault and sentenced to almost six years behind bars.
