Rock legend Roger Daltrey was made a Commander Of The British Empire (CBE) by British royal Queen Elizabeth II today (09JAN05) for his services to music, the entertainment industry and charity.

The 60-year-old star felt unworthy of the prestigious honour, despite fronting iconic mod band The Who for 40 years, and raising more than $4 million (GBP2.1 million) for his charity, the TEENAGE CANCER TRUST (TCT), by organising a series of star-studded concerts at London's Royal Albert Hall.

The PINBALL WIZARD singer, who is currently working on new album WHO2, says, "I'm so very pleased. It's really great to be honoured by my country. I feel undeserving of such an honour."
