Veteran rocker Rod Stewart has slighted ROBBIE WILLIAMS - dismissing the pop star's chances of playing him in a new musical based on his life.

Williams dated Stewart's estranged wife Rachel Hunter for nearly a year before acrimoniously splitting with her in February (03) - and whilst Stewart gave his blessing to the relationship at the time, now his opinion of the ANGELS star has altered.

When the 57-year-old was asked if he would like someone young like Williams to play him in new West End, London production TONIGHT'S THE NIGHT, Rod replied, "Nah, he hasn't got any history."

Instead, Stewart wants an old FACES bandmate to portray him.

He says, "I'd want my mate Ronnie Wood in the lead role if it was based on my actual life story."
