Funnyman Robin Williams celebrated 10 months of sobriety at the San Francisco International Film Festival in California last night (03May07).
The Mrs Doubtfire star checked into rehab last August (06) after 'falling off the wagon' following two decades of sobriety.
Williams was honoured with the San Francisco Film Society's Peter Owens award for acting "brilliance, independence and integrity" on Thursday and took the opportunity to share his joy over life without alcohol.
He said, "Ten months (sober). I had 20 years before that."
Williams paid tribute to San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, who recently admitted he was seeking help for his alcohol issues.
He continued, "It's nice to know there are others out there, including the mayor.
"Honesty is the best thing and he did it great in dealing with it. That's the hardest thing of all, admitting 'I have a problem'.
"It's a great honour to be honoured by a festival sponsored by a vodka company. Just out of rehab, it's always good to go right to a place with a bottle of Skyy on every table."
