We were expecting Robin Roberts to be leaving 'Good Morning America' at some point, in order for the much-loved TV presenter to undergo a bone marrow transplant to treat her blood and bone marrow disease Myelodysplastic syndrome (Mds). However, that's occurring at the end of the month, and so it was a surprise when she disappeared halfway through Tuesday's (July 31st) show.
However, panic not, Roberts was allowed to go early after receiving a lot of pre-treatment ahead of the operation, and has had her holiday time moved forward so that she can rest up before the big operation. She explained as such in a statement made on her Facebook page, which read "What a difference a day makes...feeling Much better. I guess all the pre-treatment for Mds finally caught up with me on Tuesday."
Elaborating, she commented "Had to delay the start of my much needed vacation but have been given the green light to travel tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing my West Coast friends and then my family in MS as mom continues to recover from a health setback. We appreciate all the prayers and well wishes...the same to you. Despite what you may have read elsewhere this is not my medical leave...just good ole fashion vacay! R&R is ready for a little R&R. Thanks again for the love and support. Blessings to all...XO" Good to know! All the best Robin.
