Latin singer Robi Draco Rosa is heading back out on the road for the first time since his cancer diagnosis.
Ricky Martin's former Menudo bandmate announced in 2011 that he was 18 months into treatment for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. He underwent a stem cell transplant and was declared cancer free last year (12).
Rosa bounced back from his battle by hitting the studio to work on a new record, Vida, and he's planning to take his new material out to fans on a tour.
The 44 year old musician insists his health scare has given him a new lease of life.
He tells the New York Daily News, "When I was younger, I used to think life was brief. I never thought I'd make it past 27. But when you have cancer, it's a journey. I have this renewed sense of my family, of spirituality. I've had a second chance at life - I'm a new man."
On Vida, Rosa performs a duet with Martin, their first since their days in the teen band. He adds, "I think it was a long time coming. We spent several years in Menudo, and for many years after, people were like, 'You need to do something together.'
"I think that first trip to New York City after being bedridden for so long and then hanging out with Ricky was amazing - like old times."
Shakira and Jose Feliciano also appear on the album. Rosa will kick off his U.S. trek in Miami, Florida on 26 Oct (13).
