It has been announced that IRON MAN 3, starring Robert Downey Jr, will be released on May 3rd 2013. In a press release, Disney, Paramount Pictures, and Marvel Studios confirmed that a new deal has been struck, which will see the former responsible for the movie's marketing and distribution.
The deal means that a number of superhero films have now been given the green light, with Disney also overseeing 'The Avengers' movie, and Paramount set to release 'Thor' on May 6th 2011, and 'Captain America' on July 22nd 2011. In the statement, Paramount CEO and Chairman Brad Grey said, "Five years ago, when Paramount and Marvel made our initial deal, both our businesses were in very different places. We are grateful for the partnership we have had with the terrific Marvel team over these years and proud of the work we have done together. Today, this new agreement is the right deal for Paramount, for Marvel, and for Disney".
Jon Favreau is set to direct the third installment of the superhero franchise, and the release date will give him time to finish his current project, the action fantasy movie 'Cowboys & Aliens', which stars Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford.
