Hiddleston can recite whole scenes from ‘Heat’ and isn't afraid to do it in front of De Niro himself.
Any good Tom Hiddleston fan knows that the Avengers star likes to show off his impersonation skills, but on 'The Graham Norton Show' on Friday he really put his talents to the test, by impersonating Robert De Niro in front of the man himself.
Tom Hiddleston showed off his impersonation skills on ‘The Graham Norton Show’.
Hiddleston was appearing on Norton’s sofa along with De Niro and his The Intern co-star Anne Hathaway as well as Kenneth Branagh, who directed the first Thor movie. De Niro of course is one of the most imitated stars in all of Hollywood, something which, luckily for Hiddleston, the legendary actor doesn't mind.
The dream team of De Niro, Pacino, Pesci and Scorsese will team again for the biopic of mobster Frank Sheeran.
Robert De Niro has confirmed he’ll be reuniting with Martin Scorsese for mob film, I Heard You Paint Houses, which they plan to begin shooting next year. The duo first worked together on 1973 crime thriller Mean Streets and have since collaborated on classic such as Goodfellas, Taxi Driver and Raging Bull.
Robert De Niro says he will reunite with martin Scorsese for I Heard You Paint Houses.
Speaking to Digital Spy, while promoting his latest move, The Intern, De Niro said, "We are doing it... We should be doing it sometime next year. We’re slowly, slowly getting it in place.”
This is one of those warm, unchallenging comedies that's entertaining to watch even though something about it feels vaguely inane. Basically, nothing about it is even remotely realistic; people never actually do or say these kinds of things. But we kind of wish they did. And as writer-director Nancy Meyers makes a series of pointed observations about the value of age and experience, we can't help but wistfully smile and nod along.
It's set in a picturesque mix of old and new Brooklyn, where pensioner Ben (Robert De Niro) has run out of ways to make his life interesting after his wife of more than 40 years died. He's done the travelling, spent time with his grandson on the opposite side of the country, and now he's applying to be a senior intern at a wildly successful fashion website. He's assigned to work with founder and CEO Jules (Anne Hathaway), an overachiever who prefers to do everything herself while her equally astute husband (Anders Holm) stays home with their adorable daughter (JoJo Kushner). Jules is so busy that she barely notices that both her company and her marriage are slipping out of her grasp, but Ben is sharp as a tack, and gently helps her reset her priorities. Meanwhile, he also finds romance himself with the company's hot masseuse (Rene Russo).
Virtually everything in this movie feels comfortable and easy, with conflicts that aren't actually that difficult to manage and side characters who never steal the spotlight from the stars. The only dark shadow in the film appears when Ben discovers that Jules' husband is having an affair, and her reaction nicely sidesteps the usual way movies approach the issue. Otherwise, the film plays along nicely, never ruffling feathers while constantly pointing out how wise old people are, really. Thankfully, De Niro is so relaxed in the role that he avoids sentimentality, effortlessly mixing the comedy and drama. He sparks some engaging father-daughter-style chemistry with Hathaway, who nicely mixes Jules' tough drive with an underlying yearning to get her life back in balance.

The actress felt like she was in good hands, if a little starstruck, working with Robert De Niro.
Oscar-winning actress Anne Hathaway has moved effortlessly between genres throughout her career, from comedy to drama to musical. But most of her roles have been pretty intense, and she saw The Intern as a fresh change. "I don't always relate to my characters, but Jules I really did," she says. "It's hard to be a person making mistakes in the spotlight, and I related to her on that level. Until now I've made a lot of my movies from a place of insecurity and self-doubt. I got tired of that, so I decided to make one from a more positive place and to feel good about what I was doing and embrace the unknowns. It turns out you can make a movie without non-stop sleepless nights!"

She was also challenged by the idea of working with Robert De Niro. "I was so scared, - it's Bob Freaking De Niro!" Hathaway laughs. "I mean, he's a legend! If anything I was lucky to have done The Devil Wears Prada with Meryl Streep, because in many ways I missed that experience because I never got over the 'God you're Meryl Streep'-ness."

Smith memorably transformed Marlon Brando into Vito Corleone in The Godfather
The Oscar-winning make-up artist Dick Smith has died aged 92. In a career spanning over fifty years, Smith was responsible for some of the most iconic transformations in cinema, especially his work on The Exorcist and Amadeus. The news was confirmed by long time friend and former assistant Rick Baker, who won an Academy Award for his work on the make-up for An American Werewolf in London.
Rick Baker worked as Smith's assistant on The Exorcist
Originally Smith had been studying at Yale University to become a dentist when he became transfixed with the idea of make-up artistry after reading a book from his university library. This twist of fate led Smith to become one of the most intentive masters of his craft, long before the possibilities of CGI. He terrified audiences with the makeover he gave young actress Linda Blair for The Exorcist, complete with bulging eyes and 360-degree head swivelling.
