Pop star Robbie Williams has blamed his recent blog post slamming fellow British singer Brett Anderson on having a bad day, revealing he was feeling "tired and a bit grumpy" when he made the comments.
The former Take That star last week (ends24Mar13) wrote a post taking aim at the singer and his band Suede, as well as their 1990s Britpop contemporaries, after Anderson branded the current crop of boybands "c**p".
Williams blasted Anderson as "bigoted" for his remarks, but returned to his site hours later to backtrack on his comments and urge his fans to buy Suede's new album Bloodsports.
The Angels hitmaker has now opened up about what prompted his rant, admitting he was in a bad mood when he wrote the blog post.
Speaking on his Radio Rudebox Britpop Special, which appears on his website, Williams explains, "I think I've made a bit of a boo-boo... with a blog that went up.
"I've been tired and a bit grumpy, and I've been looking at someone to take it out on, and I fired a sideways shot at Brett Anderson from Suede.
"And now, as I always do, now I'm feeling remorseful like a big girl. I commented on something that wasn't anything that Brett Anderson has really said, that blew it out of proportion, and then slagged off a load of bands in the process. One thing I am not is subtle."
However, Williams also used the show to take a swipe at Blur star Alex James, saying, "He's the bass player in Blur, my nan could do that. All you've got to do is have a haircut."
