Robbie Williams - Take The Crown Album Review - Comments and Message Board

Even though I'm not a fan of Robbie's, I like maybe five of his songs, I found this review a little bit harsh, but then again, the other ones I read, were too close to the official statements from Robbie about the album, so I guess this one is at least impartial. After reading everything Robbie said, previous to the release of the first single, and after listening the Take That album he made in 2010, I have to say I was a bit disappointed with Candy. I expected something more grown up from him. Not grown up in the sense he would stop cursing, God know he won't ever get tired of that, but I expected some lyrics with more essence, not a summer hit that I imagine a teen popstar singing. Different is a different story though, pun not intended. I can see Gary Barlow's collaboration here more than I did with Candy, I don't think it's a girl he's singing too, more like his own demons, or his better version of him, how he wants to change and be better and all that, he always says that, I love the lyrics and the melody. When it comes to the album as a whole, I think it was made mainly for Robbie's fans, no one who didn't like him before is going to like him now, but he's got a huge fanbase so I guess the album will be successful. And if it's not, at least in Robbie's terms, I think we'll see the cycle, Take That solo album-questions about Robbie coming back-Take That success-Robbie wants to go back-new Take That album with Robbie-new Robbie album, all over again. He'll get it at some point I guess.
