Actors Rob Lowe and David Boreanaz are among the sports fans paying tribute to late baseball icon Gary Carter.
The legendary catcher was 57 years old when he lost his battle with brain cancer on Thursday (16Feb12), and a host of famous faces have taken to Twitter.com to pay their respects to the sportsman.
Lowe wrote, "Sad to hear of baseball great Gary Carter's passing. It was a pleasure to watch him play," while Boreanaz tweeted, "R.I.P. Gary Carter. Loved watching him play the game. Bless home plate and the catcher who is in peace."
Karate Kid star Ralph MACchio also posted, "Rip the great Gary Carter. Class at every level. Thanks for the many thrills," and Scrubs actor Donald Faison added, "Gary Carter, I really enjoyed watching you play baseball when I was a kid. Rest In Peace sir."
MC Hammer wrote, "Salute to Gary Carter, pure class. One of the Greatest," and rapper Q-Tip tweeted, "Man Rip 2 (sic) Gary Carter hall of fame NY Mets catcher."
