Rita Wilson has her actor husband Tom Hanks to thank for her success on Broadway, New York - because if it wasn't for his words of encouragement she would have walked away from Chicago. The star was offered the role of ROXIE HART in the long-running stage musical earlier this year (06) and decided to check out the show before committing to it. Wilson admits she suffered stage fright just sitting in the theatre watching dancer MICHELLE DeJean play the part she was set to take over. She recalls, "I thought, 'Oh, my God. There's no way (I can do this)." Luckily, Wilson wasn't alone in the dark - her husband and stepdaughter were there to encourage her to reconsider. She adds, "I turned to Tom and said, 'Oh, man, I don't know.' I was kind of sick to my stomach.' He said, 'You gotta do it. This is great! You can totally do this.' "If he hadn't said that... I would have been so out of there." Wilson took the killer role and has become a huge hit in the musical. She's not the first movie star to take on the role on the Broadway stage - Melanie Griffith and Brooke Shields have also played the character and Tori Spelling has announced she'll take over the role from Wilson later this year (06).
