Rita Ora thinks social media is ''like a drug''.

The 23-year-old singer has developed an obsession with Instagram and Twitter and admits her phone is the first thing she reaches for when she wakes up in the morning.

Speaking in the August issue of Flare magazine, she explained: ''I'm on it as soon as I wake up. I scroll with one eye open. It's like a drug. For me, it's like, look forward. You don't have to look side to side. If you start looking from side to side, you get confused.''

Meanwhile, the 'I Will Never Let You Down' hitmaker, who has been signed to Jay Z's label Roc Nation since 2009, admits she has carved out her successful career based on inspiration from Beyoncé, 32.

Rita explained: ''Beyoncé built her f**king foundation from the bottom. I think that's the exact career every female artist wants to have.''

However, the blonde beauty believes the competition from other female artists - such as Rihanna - have also helped her progress her career and reach for her goals.

She said: ''There's always competition. I definitely feel it. I thrive off of it. I love it.''
