In an eventful week in which Drake publicly congratulated her and declared his love for her at the VMAs, and then engaging in THAT kiss in Miami, Rihanna has thanked Drake for his speech last Sunday, saying “I love you for that!”
In a lengthy Instagram caption she posted on Friday (September 2nd), accompanying a clip of Drake’s speech before he handed over the Video Vanguard Award at New York’s Madison Square Garden last weekend, she thanked all her friends, family and colleagues for her massive commercial success that stretches back over more than a decade.
“#VMA2016 night was one that I would never forget!! I have the most incredible people in my life!,” her post read. “My family, friends, loved ones, my fans, my team!!! All gifted beautiful spirits! And I'm so grateful that God has precisely and flawlessly arranged our paths to meet at each other. It's because of you that I was able to reach this moment in my career!”
Lastly, she had some special words for the 29 year old Canadian rapper: “your speech was so touching and I love you for that!”

Drake had gone as far as to purchase an entire billboard of advertising space in Los Angeles in the days running up to the VMAs, congratulating her on behalf of everybody at his OVO record label.
On the night itself, he prompted a huge round of applause when he basically laid his heart on the line – and trying and failing for a kiss – when he said of the Barbadian singer: “She's someone I've been in love with since I was 22 years old. She's one of my best friends in the world. She's a living breathing legend in our industry.”
Since then, she went with him to Miami this week, where, at Wednesday night’s stop on his Summer Sixteen Tour, she joined him onstage where they kissed for real. They had also been spotted looking very intimate in each other’s company at a nightclub in the city the evening before.
Watch this space, pop lovers!
