Rihanna's new album 'Unapologetic' is on its way to reaching the number one spot on the Billboard 200 chart after its release earlier this week.
Rihanna's new album 'Unapologetic' is on course to top the Billboard 200 chart.
The Bajan singer only released the record earlier this week, but it is already looking likely to debut at number one by Sunday (25.11.12), with industry sources sure that it will sell between 225,000 and 250,000 after topping the iTunes album charts in 43 different countries.
However she faces competition from Taylor Swift's seventh studio album 'Red', which has sold another 145,000 copies this week despite falling from the top spot after three consecutive weeks at number one.
The closest Rihanna, 24, has come to topping the list is after the release of her 2010 album 'Loud', which reached number three with sales of 207,000.
Her debut single 'Diamonds' has reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 Hot songs, making it her 12th number one single in the US with others including 'Disturbia' and 'Take A Bow'.
Rihanna is now preparing for her 2013 tour after having just finished her ambitious '777 Tour', which saw her jet across Mexico City, Los Angeles, Toronto, Stockholm, Paris, Berlin, London and New York in a private 777 Boeing jet to perform seven shows within a seven days.
