Rihanna is still trying to get over her assault at the hands of her ex-boyfriend, rapper Chris Brown.
The 'Russian Roulette' singer, who was attacked by her then-boyfriend Chris in February 2009, claimed she still feels the effects of the incident.
She said: "The physical pain comes and it goes. The bruises fade away. But the emotional scars stay with you. "
The Barbados-born beauty also revealed she did not call the emergency services following the assault.
She added: "I didn't call 911. No. I know everybody thinks I did, but it was someone else.
Rihanna, 21, also admits it was hard for her to get out of the relationship with Chris.
She added to GQ magazine: "I never blamed myself, but I wondered, 'What did I do to provoke it?' It took a lot of strength to pull out of that relationship."
The singer recently revealed the attack was a "turning point" in her life.
She said: "The assault came at the end of an incredible year for me, career-wise. Now I kind of look back on it as the beginning of a new era, almost like it was a wake-up call for me."
