Ricky Martin has been lying to fans since he hit the big time as the star of Latino boy band Menudo - his first manager told him to pretend he was 11.
The singer was actually 12 when he joined the group and spent his years with Menudo telling the media and fans he was a year younger than he actually was.
After 'coming out' as a gay man earlier this year (10), Martin now feels it's time to reveal all about every lie he told.
In a TV interview with Ellen DeGeneres, which will air on her show on Wednesday (10Nov10), he says, "Ever since I came out and I'm doing interviews about my book Me, I feel so free because I am literally, for the first time in my life, not manipulating information.
"When I was 12 years old I started in the music business and my manager told me, 'But I want you to say you're 11 years old, so you can stay longer in the band - and you look 11 years old. It's OK.'
"So it was, 'Hi, I'm Ricky, it's nice to meet you and I'm 11 years old.' I was already lying."
