Ricky Gervais is nursing a sore throat after trying to perfect an impersonation of Bruce Springsteen's gravelly vocals for an upcoming charity show.
The British funnyman is teaming up with the Born to Run hitmaker to perform together in New York next week (09Nov11) to raise money for soldiers injured in battle.
The Office creator is planning to surprise the audience at the Big Apple's Beacon Theatre by imitating Springsteen during the Stand Up for Heroes event - but mimicking the rocker's vocals has taken its toll on Gervais' voice.
In a post on Twitter.com, he writes, "Sore throat from trying to perfect my Springsteen impression in time for a charity gig we're doing together. Not even sure it's a good idea."
