Five people accused of forging THE OFFICE star Ricky Gervais' passport and wiring $372,000 (GBP196,000) from his bank account stood trial today at London's Wood Green Crown Court.

The four men and a woman allegedly targetted the 43-year-old and two other victims, who lost a combined $297,000 (GBP154,000).

But the five defendants - KENNETH SPEIGHT, SHARONJEET SNOBBER, MUSHTAQ JAVED, CRAIG REEVES and HARRY PEACH - deny three counts of conspiracy to defraud between February and April 2004.
