British funnyman Ricky Gervais has hit back at complaints his sketches poking fun at disabled people are in poor taste. The Office star concedes his writing is sometimes "uncomfortable" but insists a scene in the new series of EXTRAS - depicting someone mistaking a girl with cerebral palsy for a drunk - is challenging humour. He says, "That wasn't an easy laugh at all. That was a very uncomfortable laugh. I mean, that could've been taken wrongly. "What it was saying was, 'Wouldn't it be awful if you mistook someone who had a terminal illness for someone who was drunk.' Everything we've ever done is 'right on'. We expose pretension and ignorance."
