Rick Springfield is dipping his toes back into the acting waters.
Rick Springfield has revealed that he's set to appear in True Detective season 2. Yep - that Rick Springfield. The crooner took to Twitter this week to tell fans: "Just finished my 1st day of shooting for season 2 of HBO's True Detective. What a great script. Working w/ Colin Farrell & Rachel McAdams!"
Rick Springfield is in True Detective season 2. Yep, really.
To be fair to Springfield - he's no stranger to acting and has played himself on Californication as well as Noah Drake on General Hospital in 1981 and again in 2013. Other roles include Hot in Cleveland, Suddenly Susan and the original series of Battlestar Galactica.
The hotly anticipated new season of the show will also star Kelly Reilly and Taylor Kitsch. It is once again written by the main man, Nic Pizzolatto.
Season two follows Farrell's character Ray Velcoro, a detective whose allegiances are split between his colleagues in the department and the mobster boss that owns him. Vince Vaughn plays the criminal entrepreneur Frank Semyon, whose empire is put into jeopardy after the murder of his business partner.
McAdams, who apparently beat the likes of Elizabeth Moss for the role, will play Ani Bezzerides, a detective with strong ethics. Kitsch is Paul Woodrugh, a war veteran and officer with the California Highway Patrol. British star Reilly is Frank's wife, a D-list actress who helps his criminal enterprise.
Fast and Furious director Justin Lin will direct the first two episodes of the series, which is set to premiere in summer 2015. It is not thought that Cary Joji Fukunaga will be back behind the camera.
