The Jessie's Girl hitmaker clocked up millions of record sales in his heyday but refused to display the special honours he received to mark his achievements.

He instead stored them in a shed outside his mother's house in Australia, and they were eventually ruined by water damage.

Springfield tells The New York Times, "I never put them on my walls. In fact, I had them out in the shed and they got rained on, so I had to throw them all out."
